Central Bank posts increase in its reserves

Russia's gold and currency reserves went up $11.583bn in the first eleven months of 2002, from $36.622bn as of January 1, 2002 to $48.205bn as of December 1, 2002, the external and public relations department of the Russian Central Bank reported. The reserves increased by $1.438bn in November 2002.

In particular, currency reserves within Russia's gold and currency reserves rose from $32.542bn as of January 1, 2002 to $44.47bn as of December 1, 2002, and gold reserves dropped from $4.08bn to $3.735bn.
