Gazprom Lifts Restrictions on Transport of Gas by Itera to CIS

Gazprom yesterday lifted all restrictions on the transport of gas by the international Itera group to CIS countries. The restrictions were lifted at 20.00 Moscow time. According to the gas giant's press office, the decision to lift the restrictions was taken in connection with Itera's payment of its debt to Gazprom for October 2002. The debt was for gas transportation services to CIS countries. On November 25, 2002 Gazprom brought in restrictions on the supply of gas by Itera. Initially, Gazprom reduced Itera's transportation volume to 50% of the gas it wished to transport, but on November 29 the reduction was increased to 65%.
