Russia Tightens Requirements for US Poultry Imports

Russia yesterday introduced a new certificate for importing poultry from the US. According to the Russian Agriculture Ministry's press service, this document significantly increases the quality requirements for poultry. Specifically, the Agriculture Ministry now requires American exporters to change their system of feeding chickens and limit the amount of antibiotics in their feed.

In March of this year Russia introduced a temporary ban on poultry imports from the US, which was due to US poultry not meeting Russian veterinary standards. Poultry imports to Russia were resumed on April 15.
