Merloni to create industrial estate in Lipetsk region

The Italian company Merloni has started implementing the project oncreating an industrial area in the Lipetsk region. Its implementation willenable the company to provide supplies of Russian components to the fridgeplant Stinol, which is a part of the company, the director on internationaland regional relations of the Russian office of Merloni said in aninterview with RosBusinessConsulting. According to him, the amount ofinvestments in this project will be about $50m. "Partially the financingwill be made by Merloni, however, we will need to attract partners", thedirector said pointing out that among potential investors might be theSimest bank.Within the framework of the project on creating this industrial zone withan area of 200,000 square meters, it is expected to modernize old andconstruct new enterprises that will supply the Stinol plant with necessarycomponents. "The construction and modernization of enterprises arenecessary because the majority of potential suppliers are situated nearLipetsk and their condition is far from good. Moreover, it will result in aconsiderable decrease in the production cost of fridges", he stressed.Negotiations on participating in the project have been already conductedwith ten companies.
