Yakutia's president unsatisfied with federal fund of support to regions

The system of distribution of resources from the federal fund of support toregions is not efficient, Vyacheslav Shtyrov, president of Yakutia,declared at a meeting devoted to questions of the social and economicdevelopment of the Far East. According to him, the present system does nottake into account the difference between expenditures in the center of thecountry and in the east of Russia. He also proposed to change the practice,according to which 65 percent of collected taxes are transferred to thefederal budget and only 35 percent are left in the regional budgets. "Whyis money, that a local budget would allocate for the solution of socialprograms, transferred to the federal budget, if later these funds come backin a lesser volume?" the president of Yakutia wondered..
