Data on production in fuel and energy industry released

In January-July 2002, the production index in the Russian fuel and energy industry amounted to 103.7 percent of the corresponding figure of 2001, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. This July, this index was 104.7 percent of the level of June 2002.

The most considerable production growth in the first seven months of 2002 was registered in oil production, reaching 8.2 percent. In this period, the production volume also went up in the gas industry by 2.5 percent and in oil processing by 1.5 percent. At the same time, coal production decreased by 7.5 percent. The production decline in the electric energy industry amounted to 1.8 percent.

The volume of oil produced in January-July 2002, gained 8.2 percent as compared to the corresponding period of 2001. Associated gas production went up by 4.7 percent. In July 2002, oil production was 31.4 million tons, increasing by 8.2 percent against July 2001, and by 4.8 percent against June 2002.
