Russia's Railways Ministry, Bombardier Transportation Try out New Generation Locomotive

The Ministry of Railroads of Russia and the Canadian Bombardier Transportation company began the trial use of the EP 10 new generation electrical passenger locomotive. According to the press service of the Ministry of Railroads, the new locomotives run between Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, and Adler. The locomotive can use either 3 KV DC or 25 KV AC.

The new locomotive was developed jointly by the All-Russian Locomotives Research and Design Institute in the town of Novocherkassk and the Bombardier Transportation. Its chassis, electric engines, pantographs, and electrical apparatuses were designed and made in Russia.
