Official says 2003 budget will meet requirements of Cabinet and parliament

The Russian 2003 budget draft will meet priorities of the government andparliament by August 26, when it will be introduced to the State Duma,Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin announced at a briefing today. He noted thatthe draft budget was elaborated on together with a joint commission and atrilateral commission, consisting of representatives of the government, theState Duma and the Federation Council. According to the minister, thiscollaboration allowed for reaching an agreement on key issues and markingpriorities. Kudrin reported that the Cabinet and Duma groups would beworking together to specify some priorities starting today and until August26, 2002. In particular, they will consider indexing the agriculturalsector, accommodation construction and other programs..
