New landscape-biological reserve in Siberia

The Chanovsky state landscape-biological reserve has been founded in the Edvinsk district of the Novosibirsk region.

Hunting, burning-out of meadow and marsh plants, land-ploughing, haymaking, cattle-pasturing, fishing, recreation and tourism are prohibited in the Chanovsky reserve with the total area of 10,191 hectares, the press service of the regional administration said. Protective, reproductive and bio-technical measures will be taken in the reserve. Only crows, wolves and stray dogs will be hunted for in the reserve.

The reserve is located 50 kilometres away from the town of Edvinsk. The mouths of the Chulym and Kargat rivers, two bays of the Malye Chany lake and Belukha lake with surrounding reed marshes are situated on its territory.
