Yakutia goes on extinguishing forest fires

12 forest fires were extinguished in Yakutia over the week-end. 3 new hot spots appeared, Marina Chesalina, head of the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Far Eastern region's Natural Resources Department, reported on Monday.

According to her, there are 45 hot spots difficult of access in the area of 9,540 hectares in Yakutia now.

Fires were damped down completely in the Khabarovsk Territory, the Jewish Autonomous and Magadan regions, the Koryak Autonomous Area and other regions of the area. There are still eight fire pockets in the Amur region and four in Kamchatka.

Since the beginning of the fire-hazardous season there have been 2,717 forest fires, which covered the area of 503,041 hectares, on the territory of the Far Eastern federal district, the press service pointed out.
