July inflation at 0.7 percent in Russia

In July inflation in Russia stood at 0.7 percent, said the Russian State Statistical Committee on Friday.

Consumer prices on foods increased by 0.4 percent, non-foods 0.6 percent, services 1.8 percent.

In eight entities of the Russian Federation, goods and services became over two percent costlier, mostly in the Chukotka autonomous district (3.2 percent) as a result of food price rises by 4.5 percent.

Simultaneously, in twelve entities of the Russian Federation the prices of goods and services slipped because the cost of foods subsided. For instance, in the Kaliningrad region by 2.5 percent.

In Moscow and St.Petersburg the cost of consumer prices increased by 0.2 and 0.6 percent, respectively.

In July prices fell mostly on vegetables, by 11 percent on an average, fresh cabbages by 22.9 percent, fruit and citric fruit by 1.6 percent, including bananas by 6.2 percent. Simultaneously, prices on potato go on increasing: in July potato became 8 percent costlier.

Price falls were observed on most of dairy products -- 0.2 to 1.1 percent. Prices on eggs slipped by 3.3 percent, cheese 0.4 to 2.1 percent, fresh and frozen fish by 0.9 and 0.1 percent, respectively, said the Russian State Statistical Committee.
