Vladimir Putin stated that gas prices for population should be directly dependent on people's revenues

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the issue of bringing domestic gas prices to the world price level which was one of the demands put forward to Russia by the World Trade Organization. During the meeting on Friday with Aleksei Miller, head of the Russian "Gazprom" company, the President stated that gas prices for population should be directly dependent on people's revenues. At the same time Putin stressed that rates of revenue growth should exceed prices growth rates in general, and on gas and electricity, in particular.

During the meeting they also considered the issue of applying domestic Russian gas prices to Belorussia with which Russia already has a single gas market. According to the Russian leader, establishment of a single gas tariff "should be tied together" with other issues of the single energy policy of the two countries.

The head of Gazprom reported to the President the results of the work of the company in the first six months of the year. According to Miller, during the first half of the year they produced 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas more than planned. 162.8 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to the domestic market, and 63.8 billion cubic meters were exported. The head of Gazprom pointed out to "high competitiveness" of Russian petrochemical products abroad.
