Aviation helps extinguish forest and peat bog fires in Moscow region

An Il-76 aircraft of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia has been added to the Mi-26 helicopter used for extinguishing the forest and peat bog fires burning in the Shatura Region near Moscow.

During the past 24 hours the area of burning forest fires in the Moscow region has diminished to 217 hectares. According to the figures as on Thursday morning, fires were burning on an area of 242 hectares. However, the number of seats of fire has gone up from 120 to 178.

About 1,300 people and 387 units of land equipment are used for eliminating the forest fires burning in the Moscow Region.
