Violent fire-fight in Chechnya

Chechen terrorists based in Georgia, where US forces are carrying out activities with the local army under the auspices of the war against terrorism, have engaged Russian forces inside Chechnya.

The latest figures are as yet unavailable but there are reported to be casualties on both sides. Georgian complaints that Russian aircraft crossed the border were exposed as it became clear that the Chechen terrorist groups had been using Georgia as a hideaway.

The United Nations Organisation has already ceased humanitarian activities within Chechnya after the centuries-old practice of kidnapping surfaced again in recent days, after a Russian aid worker was seized.

In recent years, Chechen terrorist gangs kidnapped and decapitated a number of workers from the United Kingdom, after local Chechen warlords declared their captures Osama Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network, asking for the ransom money. Osama Bin Laden is reported to have ordered the executions, carried out in the most horrendous conditions imaginable, with extreme cruelty, promising to pay the Chechens more money than the company for which the persons concerned worked.

Chechen terrorism and kidnapping has been the scourge of the region, and not only, for some two hundred years.
