Russian and European Civil Air carriers' session in St.Petersburg

St.Petersburg's international airport of Pulkovo has hosted a session of representatives of the Russian Transport Ministry's State Civil Aviation Service, SCAS, and the European Civil Aviation Conference, ECAC.

The session was held within the framework of the bilateral agreement between the SCAS and the ECAC, envisioning cooperation of the parties in all spheres of civil aviation, the Pulkovo press service reported.

Russian first Deputy Transport Minister, SCAS head Alexander Neradko, ECAC President Alfredo Roma, heads of civil aviation departments in Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Finland, as well as heads of ECAC structural divisions took part in the session.

The participants considered current problems of conducting flights of Russian airlines to the ECAC member states and flights of European companies in the Russian air space. Special attention was paid to ensuring safety of flights and to protecting the environment from the adverse impact of aviation.

Moreover, the session touched upon a possible modernization of the current system of compensation payments for foreign air carriers' flights over the Russian Trans-Siberian air routes. The parties agreed to carry out joint work in order to find mutually acceptable decisions both on a political and technical basis.
