200,000 Killed in Two Chechen Wars is Exaggeration Say Chechen Authorities

Akhmar Zavgayev, a representative of the Chechen administration in the Russian Federation, told a Rosbalt correspondent that the figure of 200,000 killed in the two Chechen wars is unrealistically high. 'A few tens of thousands of people have been killed in the Republic of Chechnya during the conflict. The idea that hundreds of thousands have been killed is being spread by those who started the war and want it to continue to create hatred between Russians and Georgians,' Zavgayev claimed.
