British astronaut fears Russians leave him in space. Putin interferes

British astronaut Tim Peake was quite afraid being left in space abandoned at the International Space Station, in case relations of the West with Russia deteriorate completely.

However, the British Foreign Office minister Tobias Ellwood assured the MPs that Vladimir Putin promised him to take care of the astronaut and not abandon Major Peake on orbit.

Ellwood, who is a friend of the astronaut talked with the Russian President during the European Games in Baku and asked him to take care of one of his friends, who would have to make use of the Russian transport and who's concerned that he'd get stuck at the end of his destination and wouldn't be able to return.

'Mr Putin grabbed my arm and said, 'Mr Ellwood, tell Mr Peake we will not abandon him,' the British politician said. And he believes it indicates that despite all the controversies, one can work with Russia.

As Pravda.Ru reported, Peake is the first British subject to set off to the ISS. He started his flight on board of the Soyuz TMA-19M spaceship and has been at the ISS for half a year so far.
