Russia Increases its Foreign Trade

The total value of foreign trade of Russia in January-August 2002 amounted to 104,300 million U.S. dollars, the Central Bank of Russia reported.

Compared to the same period of last year, total foreign-trade turnover has increased by 1.839 million dollars. Total Russian export dropped by 1,821 million to 66,699 million dollars.

In January-August import increased by 3,660 million dollars as against the same period of last year and ran into 37,601 million dollars.

In the first eight months of this year export surplus amounted to 29,098 million dollars while in January-August 2001 the respective figure stood at 34,579 million dollars
