Head of Pomorie succeeds in lifting the ban for small boats to enter ports

The head of Russia's Pomorie territory has succeeded in introducing amendments to the legislation, according to which small boats were not allowed to enter ports. From now on, it will be up to harbor masters to decide whether smaller boats will be allowed to enter sea harbors. 

The ban affected at least 14,000 owners of small vessels that are commonly used both as transport and fishing vessels. The legislative document titled "Requirements to comply with transport security at objects of transport infrastructure and vehicles" did not take into account the peculiarities of the region. 

The head of the Pomorie territory addressed the Minister of Transport of Russia proposing to extend the powers of harbor masters so that they can independently set the terms for restrictions.

"The authors of the paper did not assess all factors of life for the regional center and the surrounding islands. Someone made a mistake, having left people with no connection to the mainland, having also deprived them of traditional fishing activities," he said.

On October 3, the Russian government has amended the adequate law. Now citizens can enter ports, except for the seaports, where the presence of small boats is restricted in accordance with orders from harbor masters. 

"The governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Igor Orlov, acted in the interests of certain people, - the chairman of the All-Russian Movement for the Support of Fleet, Mikhail Nenashev told Pravda.Ru. - The Arkhangelsk region is a sea area, a region of bodies of water. There are plenty of rivers and lakes in the region. Therefore, this question is vital for everyone."
