Speaker of Parliament's Upper House Condoles on Assassination of Governor of Magadan Region

Chairman of the Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) Sergei Mironov has expressed deep condolences to the kith and kin of governor of the Magadan Region (the Far-Eastern region on the north-western coast of the Sea of Okhotsk) Valentin Tsvetkov who was murdered by a contract killer this monring.

"The Magadan Region is a severe region which is rich in natural resources and in which it is not at all easy for people to live. Valentin Tsvetkov did his best to make the life of Magadan inhabitants easier," Sergei Mironov stressed.

"I am shocked by his death, I feel great anguish and offence for our country in which such people perish," the chairman of the Federation Council said. He expressed hope that "the killers and the contractors of the assassination will be found and be befittingly punished." Impunity and the cynical orgy of criminals must be stemmed, and there is pressing necessity of an earliest cardinal reform of the law-enforcement system, since ensuring security of Russian ihabitants is the prime, high-priority task of the state," chairman of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov said in conclusion.
