Yevgeny Primakov: Russia could supply US with up to 50 million tons of oil next year

Chairman of the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yevgeny Primakov announced during his speech in Washington that Russia could supply the US with up to 50 million tons of oil next year. Primakov was invited to visit the United States by former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. He's had meetings with the representatives of the U.S. Administration, business, political and public circles. One of the issues discussed during his meetings was the cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of power industry.

Primakov mentioned that the American side was interested in the development of close ties in this sphere. According to his opinion, "the Americans would like to lessen their dependence on the OPEC countries" that's why "they are looking for alternative sources of the oil supplies." In that respect, he pointed out that Russia could provide the USA with 50 million tons of oil at the most next year. "Of course, it won't be enough to satisfy all American needs, but, nevertheless, it's still a huge amount," stated the head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce.
