Nizhny Novgorod region targets construction of economy-class housing

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a meeting was conducted on the implementation of the program titled "Housing for Russian Family." Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government Igor Shuvalov chaired the meeting. 

The leader in terms of the implementation of the program is the Volga Federal District. Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev said that during the recent years, the amount of newly built housing in the region has doubled during the recent years. People are lining up for economy class housing, he added.

"Especially for this program, we have summarized the experience of economy- class housing and chosen the developers that deal with the construction of this type of housing that defines a particular sector of the market, - said the governor. - We will be developing construction on the plots of land that had been previously reserved for economy-class housing. The land for the purpose has been prepared, all necessary resources have been provided," he said.

"I like the way the Kirov region and Tatarstan traditionally approach the housing market, but what I saw in the Nizhny Novgorod region, makes one admit that there is a serious approach to this issue in the region," said Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov.
