Moscow: Latest on Terrorist Situation

The band of Chechen terrorists who stormed a theatre in Moscow last night and are holding 700 people as refugees have called for diplomats from the countries whose nationals are being held, also representatives from Medecins sans Frontieres and the Red Cross for negotiations.

Around 60 nationals from the United Kingdom, USA, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Canada and Switzerland are among the 700 people inside the building. Latest reports indicate that there are between 40 and 50 terrorists, who are heavily armed and who have apparently placed explosives around the building.

TV crews from REV-TV and Channel One of RTV are inside the building, at the request of the terrorists. The latest demands are that the Russian forces withdraw from Chechnya within 7 days.
