The Ulyanovsk region took the course to update sports infrastructure. New sports objects appear in the region almost every month.
A grand modern multi-purpose sports complex "Volga-Sport-Arena" is almost ready to open. The complex will be the central venue for the Ball Hockey World Championship that will take place in Ulyanovsk in 2016. Residents are looking forwards for the opening of the new complex. Regional governor Sergei Morozov inspects the construction every week.
"Our athletes will now be able to train all year round, without leaving the house, and our viewers will be able to come to enjoy hockey more frequently. There will be public skating organized there too. The skating rink is designed for 500 people, - says Sergey Morozov. - The official opening of the sports complex is scheduled for March 31-April 1. In honor of this event, "The Show of Champions" will be held in the region. The show will feature two-time world champion, the world's first single female skater, four-time winner of the finals of the World Grand Prix, Irina Slutskaya, two-time world champions Stephane Lambiel and Brian Joubert, participants of numerous ice shows Fiona Zaldua and Igor Sukhanov, the world's only ice acrobat Sergey Yakimenko and many other famous ice virtuosos. Negotiations are underway with champions and winners of the Sochi Olympic Games, Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, Adelina Sotnikova, Julia Lipnitskaya, Ksenia Stolbova and Fyodor Klimov - maybe they will take part in the tour as well. We could only dream of this before," the governor said.
The Ice Palace is not the only sports complex that is currently under construction in the Ulyanovsk region. In 2014, eleven major facilities are to be launched, including track and field facility, a swimming pool of the Pedagogical University, a martial arts center in Ulyanovsk and stadium courts in Sengilei. In the future, it is planned to build one of the largest athletic training centers in the Volga region. The center is to be built in Torpedo district.
Sports and recreation complexes are to appear in every district of the region. This is a goal that the governor of the Ulyanovsk region set. To crown it all, sports playgrounds appear throughout the region.
"The development of sport and the construction of sports facilities is necessary for all people, regardless of their age and other criteria. Lately we have not been too active about it, unfortunately. But now there is a clear program for the development of sport. "Volga-Sport-Arena" will undoubtedly contribute to the development of sport and the promotion of sport. It will be a place where people will come to rest and spend time there actively. It is also positive that many conventional sports fields for mass sport continue to appear in the Ulyanovsk region - these facilities fuel high achievements in sport," the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Valery Ryazansky told Pravda.Ru. "The development of sports infrastructure is a highly necessary and socially significant matter. The results of all these sports facilities will not keep one waiting. One can only welcome the construction of a variety of sports facilities. Well done, Ulyanovsk! Way to go!"
