Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev meets Ambassador of Lithuania

Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev held a meeting with a delegation of business circles of the Republic of Lithuania chaired by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Russia, Renatas Norkus.

The discussion was primarily devoted to the development of trade, economic, business and cultural ties, as well as to the development of investment cooperation.

"I hope that during your stay you will be able to have not only interesting and fruitful meetings, but also an opportunity to learn more about our region to take home bright impressions and fond memories of our region," said Valery Shantsev, welcoming members of the delegation. "I thank you for your interest and willingness to develop cooperation between the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Lithuania. In turn, we consider an opportunity to develop existing ties and create new ones for further cooperation," the governor added.

In his words of response, the ambassador recalled how five years ago the Nizhny Novgorod region successfully organized the Days of Culture of Lithuania titled "Window to Lithuania."

"Now we want to update and open up the "window" more widely that would help us communicate with each other. We see that the region and federal agencies have invested a lot and in the development of culture in the region. During the next two years, we plan to hold a number of events in the Nizhny Novgorod region with our Lithuanian masters of culture, music and art," said Renatas Norkus.

Well-known Lithuanian actor Romualdas Ramanauskas said that he "as an artist, understands the importance of such meetings." "We are neighbors, and we will not go anywhere from one another. We must live as good neighbors. We need to forget all our political ambitions, especially of the past, to finally stop looking for the one to blame. We must live in the present for the future. In previous years, live art and culture would bring people a fraction of warmth that helped all of us survive," said Romualdas Ramanauskas.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania expressed a wish to find other areas of cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod region in business, economy, trade, construction and industry.

"The Nizhny Novgorod region is famous for its activity and achievements in engineering. In addition, the region is associated with the FIFA World Cup to be held in 2018 in Russia," said Renatas Norkus.
