The State Duma will ban illegal downloads from the Internet. On June 14th, the parliament considered the bill to fight piracy on the Internet after several members from different factions submitted the initiative for consideration.
The type of punishment for those who like freebies has not been determined yet. As for distributors of intellectual property, they will be asked to remove pirated content, or the website will be shut down otherwise.
On the territory of the former Soviet Union, there are about 2,500 websites that distribute illegal audio and video products. These resources account for nearly 99 percent of the "pirate" traffic. Many of them had to stop their work as a result of the measures that are being taken to fight piracy on the Internet.
