Russian Finance Ministry repays IMF debt ahead of schedule

The Russian Finance Ministry has executed a regular payment for Russia's debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Ministry has paid EUR45.139m, the press service of the Ministry reported to RBC today. According to the schedule, the payment was to be executed on November 7, which is a day-off in Russia. This is why the payment has been executed ahead of schedule on November 4, the Finance Ministry stressed. This is the second in the three payments to this international organization in November.

As RBC previously reported, Russia is to pay about $1.5bn to the International Monetary Fund in 2002. As of now, Russia has already repaid $1.3bn. According to the data from the Finance Ministry, the debt of the Russian government to the IMF was $7.7bn as of January 1, 2002.
