Novosibirsk has hosted a Russian-Korean conference called "Linking Trans-Korean Railroad to Trans-Siberian Railway. Prospects of Creating Eurasian Regional Community." It was organised by the "Siberian Agreement" Interregional Association and representatives of the Republic of Korea. The conference focused on prospects of economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Russia's Siberian regions on the one hand and North and South Korea on the other in view of the forthcoming link-up of the Trans-Korean and Trans-Siberian Railways.

Experts estimate that 2 billion USD are required to create a single railroad.

During the conference, a special emphasis was laid on the creation of the Eurasian regional community. This forum is expected to unite politicians, businessmen, scientists and cultural workers from Russian and its border nations in Asia.

Such conferences are expected to be held annually.
