Hong Kong: Moderate quake hits Indonesia's Seram sea

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Indonesia today, Hong Kong seismologists said. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The quake was recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory at 2120 GMT and its epicenter was in the Seram sea, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of Ambon city, about 2,600 kilometers (1,600 miles) east of Jakarta. Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago nation, is prone to frequent seismic upheavals.
