Hong Kong's 'milkshake murder' case appealed

An American woman has appealed a High Court decision that she murdered her banker husband by lacing his milkshake with sedatives before bashing his head with a metal ornament at the couple's Hong Kong luxury apartment, a newspaper reported Thursday. Nancy Kissel, 41, was sentenced to life in prison Sept. 1 at the end of a three-month jury trial involving sensational testimony about alleged sexual abuse, cocaine use and adultery. The South China Morning Post quoted unidentified High Court officials as saying that the appeal was filed on Wednesday and that Kissel was being represented by the law firm of Mallesons, Stephen and Jaques. Court officials weren't immediately available to comment Thursday. A receptionist at the law firm said that attorneys were in a meeting and couldn't discuss the case, informs the AP. I.L.
