Four American soldiers are wounded at Afghanistan suicide bombing

A suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a U.S. military vehicle in southern &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/war/2001/12/12/23429.html' target=_blank>Afghanistan on Monday, killing himself and wounding four American soldiers, one seriously, the U.S. military said.

The military denied Afghan police and army reports that at least five Americans had been killed in the attack in Mirwais Mina, about 10 km (6 miles) from the city of Kandahar.

Taliban guerrillas claimed responsibility for the attack, the latest in a surge of militant violence in Afghanistan in the run up to &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/main/18/87/345/9996_elections.html ' target=_blank>parliamentary elections due to be held in September. U.S. military spokesman Colonel Jim Yonts said the attack had been carried out by a suicide bomber who drove a car packed with a large quantity of explosives into a U.S. military vehicle, tells Reuters.

“A coalition patrol was out on routine patrol when a suspected improvised explosive device exploded. Four US service members were wounded and they were evacuated to Kandahar airfield,”Lieutenant Cindy Moore said.
