Deputy Interior Minister of Ingushetia wounded in bombshell explosion

A bombshell explosion in the headquarters of the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia, a southern Russian republic bordering Chechnya, has wounded the Ingush Deputy Interior Minister and an officer of the Russian Interior Ministry's Criminal Investigation Department.

A source at the Ingush Interior Ministry has told RIA Novosti that the bombshell belonged to a rebel suspect who was interrogated on the ministerial premises this morning. Police had confiscated his firearms before the interrogation, but failed to spot the bombshell he was carrying. The man died on the spot. And the two interrogators were taken to hospital with leg wounds.

The rebel suspect killed in today's blast in the Interior Ministry headquarters in Ingushetia was allegedly involved in a June 22 terrorist attack in that republic, which had claimed the lives of about a hundred people, mainly police officers.
