Terrorist attack in Voronezh

The Voronezh regional prosecutor's office has launched an inquiry pursuant to the murder and terrorism articles 105 and 205 of the Russian Criminal Code in connection with an explosion at a bus stop in Voronezh (Central Russia), a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office told RIA Novosti by phone.

According to her, Voronezh Prosecutor Alexander Ponomarev is heading for the site of the tragedy.

One person was killed and six wounded in the explosion, she added.

The explosion hit the bus stop at 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday, a source in the Voronezh law enforcement agencies reported.

"A homemade bomb filled with bolts and screws exploded several meters away from the bus stop," the source said. He said that it was "a targeted explosion."

According to the on-duty officer of the Voronezh interior affairs main department, a woman, who still has not been identified, was killed in the explosion.

Several people were wounded. One man in a critical condition is currently being identified.

Others have minor injuries.
