Legal action has been taken against 3,000 football fans

Since the start of this year, more than 3,000 people have been brought to administrative responsibility for violation of public order during football matches. Mikhail Artamoshkin, first deputy chief of the interior ministry's central department for ensuring public order, told about this to RIA Novosti today.

As he noted, "out of all people detained for violation of public order, some 2,000 were under the influence of alcohol."

In Artamoshkin's words, since the start of the year more than 1.5 million people have been present at football matches. "Regrettably, we must admit that five citizens and one militiaman have been hit during football riots over this period," he said. He added that five cases had been brought before the court.

"It is gratifying to note that the problem of ensuring public safety at football matches goes beyond the limits of the interior ministry," Artamoshkin said at a seminar devoted to this problem. The seminar is being held in Moscow this Tuesday with the participation of the president of the professional football league and chiefs of security services of Russian football clubs.
