Two policemen died and one was wounded in Ingushetia

Two policemen died and one was wounded Thursday morning, as they were detaining terrorists in the outskirts of the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia, a republic neighboring on Chechnya, a RIA Novosti correspondent was told by officials at press service of the republic's Interior Ministry by telephone.

"During the detention a group of terrorists offered armed resistance. As a result, deputy chief of the Malogbek district interior department Lieutenant-Colonel Kureish Korigov and deputy chief of the district criminal police Major Khamzat Bekbuzarov were killed and one policeman was wounded," an Interior Ministry spokesman said.

One of the militants was killed by a return fire and two were detained. All the three are residents of Ingushetia, the spokesman said,

At present the investigators are finding out whether the detainees were involved in earlier committed crimes, in particular in attacks on the Interior Ministry and other state offices in the republic on June 22, when 97 people were killed and over 100 were wounded.
