35 militants killed in Ingushetia

According to the data of law enforcement bodies and the investigation, in the early hours of June 22 no less than 35 militants who participated in a bandit raid (earlier it was reported that up to 200 militants took part in attacking state power facilities in Ingushetia) were killed in a skirmish in Ingushetia. This is said in a press release of the Regional Operational Staff for controlling the counter terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

"FSB units killed 15 militants in downtown Nazran. Bandits unexpectedly came under the crossfire of security bodies' officers," reads the statement.

Besides, about the same number of militants were killed by the police who defended facilities, reads the statement.

Fighters who attacked the Nazran border guard detachment were given a rebuff too. At least five bandits were killed. "For a few hours border guards were fighting and prevented the bandits from breaking through to the territory of the border guard detachment, from seizing weapons and medications," said the Regional Staff.

On June 22 bandits attacked state power facilities in Nazran, Karabulak and Sleptsovskaya. The Ingush Prosecutor's Office confirmed that 88 people were killed, 105 were wounded. Presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District Vladimir Yakovlev cited these figures at an anti-terror conference.

Heads of law enforcement bodies of the Southern federal district members are taking part in the meeting.
