Mainly civilians die in armed conflicts

96% of victims of recent armed conflicts in the world are civilians, head of the civil defense department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Vladimir Puchkov said at the conference "Strategy of Russia's Dynamic Development: Unity of Self-organization and Management" on Wednesday.

According to him, experts from several European countries investigated consequences of NATO bombings in the Balkans. The destruction of economic and social objects led to grave demographic, ecological, economic and other problems in the region, Mr. Puchkov noted.

Real ways to solve these problems have not been found yet, he added.

Moreover, terrorism growth is expected in the near future, Vladimir Puchkov said.
