Assassination attempt made on Ingushetian President today

Ingushetian President Murat Zyazikov was the victim of an assassination attempt this morning. Rosbalt reports that Zyazikov was traveling on the road from Nazran to Magas in Ingushetia when a VAZ-2107 automobile attempted to break into the procession before the automobile popularly known as a Zhuguli exploded. Fragments of the car scattered over several meters.

Zyazikov and five of his bodyguards were injured and sent to a local hospital. The physician that treated them said they were in stable condition. Preliminary reports say a suicide-terrorist was behind the attempt. An investigation is under way.
