A bomb exploded in Tashkent this morning, killing two and injuring six more people. According to preliminary reports, this explosive device was detonated by a female suicide bomber, an Uzbek police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, told RIA Novosti.
This theory is confirmed by initial on-site checks; fragments of the suicide bomber's body can be seen lying in the epicenter, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
The explosive device went off this morning near one of the city's largest markets, i.e. the Chorsu market, and at the entrance to the "Children's World" store.
The blast site and adjacent districts were subsequently cordoned off; the police are investigating.
