Accused of hostage taking in Moscow to face court

The investigation concerning five people accused of hostage taking in the Theater Center in the Dubrovka street, Moscow, has been completed, RIA Novosti learned at the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

"Soon the case of the accused, Khaskhanov, Mezhiyev brothers, Murdalov and Sobraliyev, who are now studying the materials of the case, will be submitted to the court," the press service's statement reads.

"Investigation established their involvement in attempts to blow up cars near the State Duma of the Russian Federation and near a McDonald's restaurant in the Bolshaya Bronnaya street in Moscow in 2001, in explosion of a Tavriya car near a McDonald's in the Pokryshkin street in 2002," the prosecutor's office reported.

Thus, criminal cases on the above mentioned crimes were united in one, the office explained.

Terrorists seized the Theater Center in Dubrovka 23 on October 23, 2002. They took hostage 912 people. 5 hostages were shot by terrorists, 125 died due to their actions, some of them later in hospitals.

40 terrorists that occupied the Theater Center were killed in an assault on the building.
