Israeli "diamond king" involved in crimes committed in Russia

Vice president of the Israel Diamond Exchange Avraham Traub is suspected by the Russian law enforcement bodies of swindle and smuggling connected with jewelry. Timur Lakhonin, chief of the National Central Interpol Bureau under the Russian Interior Ministry, spoke about it on Tuesday.

"In June, this year, Traub was put on the international wanted list on the ground of the criminal case launched by the Russian law enforcement bodies," said Lakhonin. However, he did not mention what body had launched the case and under what article.

"I cannot suppose how the developments will go on, because the Interior Ministry has nothing to do with this," added Lakhonin.

He explained that Traub is a citizen of Israel, but he is searched for by the Interpol because of his possible complicity in the crimes which were committed in the territory of Russia.

Last Sunday, Traub was detained by the law-enforcement bodies of Hungary.
