Attempt to Smuggle Rough Diamonds Prevented in Yakutia

During the joint operation carried out by the local department of the Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry's transport department, the servicemen confiscated 75 diamonds weighing about 200 carats. The citizen of the Federal Sakha Republic /Yakutia/ was detained at the airport of the Udachny city, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry's North-Eastern transport department reported. According to the agency representative, the confiscated diamonds give away a strong radiation emanation.

The transport prosecutor's office has initiated criminal proceedings against the detainee.
