Four Chinese Citizens Detained In Blagoveshchensk

Four Chinese citizens were detained in Blagoveshchensk, after allegedly escaping from the local Zarya (Dawn) hotel that was quarantined because of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) epidemic. According to the press center of the Amur regional police department, the four Chinese citizens were nabbed during a routine document check at a local market.

It turns out that they were registered at the afore-said hotel; nonetheless, they didn't live at the place of their registration. The four Chinese nationals were then escorted by police officers back to the hotel.

79 people are now being quarantined at Zarya.

As has been previously reported, a 25-year old Russian citizen was rushed to hospital from this hotel, with doctors suspecting atypical pneumonia. His tests are now being studied in Moscow; and the final diagnosis will be known May 8.

Epidemic-prevention measures have been implemented at the regional airport, local railroad stations and places where Chinese citizens mostly live. No South-East Asian delegations will be received until the epidemiological situation improves; moreover, no Amur-region representatives will be allowed to these countries.
