Kurd Troops Backed up By US Units Entered Kirkuk in North of Iraq

Kurd troops backed up by the US military units have entered the city of Kirkuk in the north of Iraq, the Al-Arabia TV channel reported.

According to the TV channel, in the morning Kurd and US troops were 15 kilometres away from Kirkuk and Mosul, while the two cities along with Tikrit /Saddam Hussein's home town/ were bombed from the air.

Previously, representatives of Kurd parties stated that they would not fight for these cities mostly inhabited by Kurds but wait till the Iraqi army surrendered.

One third of the Iraqi export oil is extracted near Kirkuk.
