Protestors Try to Take Down Saddam Monument in Baghdad

Residents of Baghdad who aren't happy with Saddam Hussein's regime are trying to take down a monument to the Iraqi president on Freedom Square. Euronews reported that late Wednesday a group of protestors had hung a noose around the neck of the monumental image of Hussein. They are also trying to destroy the monument with axes and sledge-hammers. Besides that, residents of Bagdad are ripping up packets with the image of Hussein, reported Euronews.

Representatives from the White House say that today there is a sufficiently high amount of opposition attitude among the people who are welcoming the coalition forces and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Moreover, the Pentagon says that it is working with no fewer than six different opposition groups including Kurdish and Shiite groups.
