US-British Coalition Forces Use Depleted Uranium in Iraq

The US-British coalition forces in Iraq have used depleted uranium munitions in their assault on the town of Basra, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA. Iraqi tank units were fired on with depleted uranium shells. Several shells exploded in the central area of Basra. The Pentagon has so far not given any comment on this announcement.

Earlier, the Iraqi government had expressed its fears that the anti-Saddam coalition would use weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
