Police chief attacked in Chechnya

In Grozny, unidentified assailants attacked and robbed a chief of the State Car Inspection department of Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan district, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

The attack was staged on Wednesday afternoon. Bandits wearing camouflage uniform attacked and wounded a senior lieutenant as he was getting out of his car.

Seeing the police chief fall, the assailants escaped on his car, taking his pistol and staff pass.

The wounded policeman was hospitalized. His life is out of danger. Law enforcers have launched an investigation.
