3 policemen and schoolboy killed in militant attack in Chechnya

Three policemen and a schoolboy were killed in a militant attack on a police car in Chechnya, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

The incident took place outside the village of Mirny, Chechnya's Shelkovskoi district on Thursday. Several policemen from the Sary-Su village police station were returning from routine operations without a military escort when militants armed with automatic weapons attacked their UAZ, killing a head officer, two of his employees, and an eleventh-grader from a local school. Two more policemen and a schoolteacher were hospitalized with wounds.

Before leaving the scene, the attackers robbed the car, taking a machine-gun, three Kalashnikov assault rifles, and two Makarov pistols. Law enforcers are trying to track them down.
