Leader Of Militants Khidir Matgeriyev Implicated In Murders Of Russian People In Chechnya Detained In Grozny

Servicemen of the Russian Interior Ministry troops carried out a reconnaissance-search operation in Grozny, capital of Chechnya, and exposed and detained bandit formation's field commander Khidir Matgeriyev. As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told at the temporary press centre of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Northern Caucasus, he is involved in the murders of Russian people in Chechnya. In the Chechen capital an element of Interior Ministry troops also exposed two militants who were carrying 152-millimetre shells to plant them. Fire for effect was opened on the militants. The shells exploded in the hands of the militants who died on the spot. On the south-western outskirts of Argun Interior Ministry troops' servicemen foiled an attempt of militants to penetrate into the town. As a result of short fighting, two militants were killed.
