The Georgian Armed Forces are not planning attack on Abkhazia, Defence Minister David Tevzadze reassured in response to Abkhaz allegations of armed action coming up against the self-proclaimed republic in Georgia's northwest. As he was addressing a media audience, Mr. Tevzadze also refuted allegations of Emzar Kvitsiani commanding a Georgian-Chechen paramilitary force active in Abkhazia's Gulripsha district. As it really is, the Georgian presidential envoy is supervising local food supply, said the minister. David Tevzadze thinks Russian peacekeepers ought to leave the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict zone. He does not expect the pullout to turn the situation to the worse. Pullout prospects are now under debate in the Georgian parliament.
